Highly Educated People Are Leaving Sweden

July 20, 2025

Sweden has an aging population and needs more workers. But we’re STRUGGLING to keep the skilled immigrants who already live here.
Last year, 17,000 immigrants left Sweden. A STAGGERING 57% of them had a university education! WHY ARE THEY LEAVING?

Reason 1: Bureaucracy. Dealing with the Swedish Migration Agency can be INCREDIBLY DIFFICULT. Many find it easier to move to other countries.

Reason 2: Housing Crisis. Finding a place to live in Sweden, especially in job-rich Stockholm, is almost IMPOSSIBLE.

Reason 3: Low Pay for High Skills. The “Swedish model” compresses wages. This means it often does NOT pay well for highly educated people to work here, so they look elsewhere.

We can NOT afford to lose working people. We need to make it easier to come, stay, and work in Sweden. Current policies, however, are pushing in the OPPOSITE direction: It should be easier to THROW PEOPLE OUT, and we are NOT very interested in getting anyone here.

This trend will make Sweden POORER.
